And this is really important. We live at a time of great promise. NACDS member stores are the front doors of health care in this country. NACDS supplier members are key partners in that role. I cannot think of much that is more exciting than working together on one of ”the greatest health and wellness transformations” of our time.
Together we are bringing health care to the people rather than forcing people to go to health care. Many in healthcare talk about the triple aim access, quality and affordability. At Kroger Health, we describe our aspirations this way, changing the way health care is delivered in the United States. Throughout this industry, you will see actions and ambitions that are delivering”a new era of retail health”. As I emphasize during the NACDS annual meeting, and as I will emphasize now, this new era is one that features an interdisciplinary team approach to health and wellness.
There is a need, there is an opportunity, and there is a movement towards healthcare professionals working ever more collaboratively for the good of the patient. It's the pharmacist, it's the nurse practitioner, it's the dietician. It's about empowering patients to access the right health care professional at the right time, wherever they are on their health journey. NACDS members are playing a tremendous role inthis, and this is reason for genuine enthusiasmabout where we are going as an industry.
One of the reasons I was most excited to gettogether in person this year was to showcase and recognizethe great work of our own team at Kroger Health. I know I'm biased, but I'm also really proud.I'm so proud of the work our healthcareteam and associates have done around this country.
And while you can't see it up close at the exhibithall, here's a quick look at some of that work. As chair of NACDS, my message to youis this the retail health revolution is churningthroughout the industry, at national and regional companiesand across all store formats. In my role as NACDS chair, I want to highlightwhat other NACDS member chains are doing as well. For example, I'll mention the companies who haveindividuals serving on the NACDS board of directors.Have you noticed how many NACDS memberchains have "Chief Medical Officers" and howmany have hired them recently?
Last month, Ive appointed someone to this role. For the first time, HEB has a chief medical officer.I mentioned the multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary approach to meeting patients needs.Walgreens and Village MD are expanding their collaboration on full service primary care practices.
Fruit Pharmacy has shown what fantastic partnerspharmacies can be to states and localities, getting covered shots into arms through clinics, making house calls and leveraging store locations.
Ride Aid is focused on the role asa health destination treating mind, body and spirit. Thrifty White has been at the forefrontof establishing partnerships with other providers, payers, pharmaceutical manufacturers and health systems. Albertson's is highly engaged in diabetes management throughtechnology partnerships through its clinics and with itsPharmacist, and through an array of strategies. In addition to the work of Kinney Drugs, the Kinney Drugs Foundation is reflecting the spiritof healthcare collaboration and patient wellbeing by supportingthe construction of nurses stations at a localhospital and enhancements to a local mental healthand wellness center. Those operating pharmacies under the bannersof Medicine Shop, Good Neighbor and Health Mart are innovating in theircommunities with partnerships with local providers.
CVS Health summarizes its work in anewly announced purpose statement bringing our heartto every moment of your health. Walmart Health is collaborating with other health providersto provide access to primary care labs Xrays, diagnostics, dental, optical and much more. And regional chain Lewis Drug has a wellestablished partnership with Sanford Health with clinics nextto or inside of their stores.
Shop Rights Dietitians showed their commitment to National Nutrition Month this past March and their theme of personalized your plates by offering customized online serves that promote healthy eating and healthy food choices.
Genoa Healthcare brings a unique focus to be havioral health and is applying its expertiseto assisting patients with the COVID vaccine. And how about Meyer? I love this story. They prioritize fitness to such a degree that when exercise weights were in short supply during the pandemic, they worked with a local manufacturer to retool its operations to make these essentialitems available to their customers.
And Zatomer in New York recently was profiledin a popular magazine with the headline Lifesaver. And that pretty much says it all at Kroger. One of the efforts I am most proud of is Take One for Your Team, an initiative thatfocused on bringing covered vaccinations to the underserved. By pairing our local pharmacist with local athletes, all for black and brown communities, together they are helping to drive the education and assurance needed to engagesome of our most at risk populations.
また、ニューヨークのザトマーは最近、人気雑誌に「ライフセーバー」という見出しで紹介されました。 これは、クローガー社のすべてを物語っています。 私が最も誇りに思っている取り組みのひとつが、「Take One for Your Team」です。
Make no mistake, NACDS chain members areleading, not lagging, in the acceleration ofretail health, and many of the companies and examples that I've listed are interchangeable. Many of these companies are collaborating withhealth systems, helping with diabetes, and building the groundwork for food is medicine.
I love that NACDS uses the Tagline Pharmacies, the face of neighborhood health care. That Tagline is all about retail health and wellness. It is about bringing healthand wellness to the consumer. It is about trust, emotional connections and consumer empowerment. These things are happening right now and it is extremely exciting. This is our future. So what does this mean for all of us today?
I have a few thoughts I'd like to leave with you. First, for the suppliers, let's keep asking ourselves whatwill our partnership look like in the future? I spoke about the interdisciplinary approach to health and wellness. There is a place for everyone, and that means you. Whether you are involved in the supplychain technology, planning stores of the future over the counter medications, beauty, food. What is your role in the revolution? What is your role in a worldwhere NACDS chain members are recognized evenmore extensively as health and wellness destinations?
